Application and Visa Procedures 1. Complete the application form and return it to the International Student Office with a U.S. $ 30.00 application fee. Additional application forms may be photocopied. 2. Complete and official transcripts of secondary and post-secondary studies, copies of diplomas, certificates or degrees earned, as well as Chinese language test results (if necessary) should be attached. These must be provided with certified Chinese or English translations (if necessary). Master’s and Doctor’s degree applicants, general and senior visiting students must submit two letters of recommendation (Visiting Student status is an opportunity to take university courses that do not lead to a ZUEL degree. Students will often take advantage of this option for professional development, upgrading and meeting requirements for graduate studies, or leading to a degree at another university while away from their home institution. There are two categories of visiting students at ZUEL—general and senior visiting students.) 3. All international students intending to study on a full-time basis in China must apply for a student visa (X visa). To be eligible for a visa, students must have the Admission Notice and the JW-202 Form. The University upon receipt of the above will issue these documents to them. 4. Students shall register at the International Student Office of ZUEL prior to the beginning of classes with the Admission Notice, JW-202 Form, the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (available at the International Student Office and the Chinese Embassy/Consulate), and 6 registry photos. Language Requirements Chinese (Mandarin) is the principal language that international students for degrees will have to use during their studies at ZUEL. An international applicant must pass a Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) before he/she starts his/her study. If he/she can't pass the test he/she must learn Chinese in the Intensive Chinese Course for International Students until his/her Chinese reaches the required level. Those who have a Primary C level (level 3 in HSK) may start their studies right away. General and senior visiting students don't have to take HSK. is a full-time university. Its academic year is divided into two semesters.
The first semester (fall semester) begins in early September and the
second (spring semester) in February. Each semester has about 20 weeks
and each week has five school days. zuel accepts applications for admission
from international students all year round. Generally speaking, students
wishing to seek degrees should register for admission in September,
general and senior visiting tudents should register during the school
time. Applicants of short-term programs (enrolled in Chinese Language
and Culture Program and Chinese Criminal Justice Program) can begin
their studies at any time of the year, including both summer and winter
vacations. The entrance time depends on the specific situations.
Diplomas and Certificates Instruction for international students is provided according to the school system and program of Chinese students. Bachelor’s Degrees will be granted to undergraduates on ondition that they pass the examinations in all subjects and complete the graduation theses.Postgraduates must complete the required courses, attend and pass all the obligatory examinations, write graduation theses and pass the defense of their theses before being conferred Master’s Degrees or Doctor’s Degrees. General and senior visiting students will receive certificates for their study upon completion of the programs.
